Benefits Available with the Medicare Discount Drug Card

Facts

EPIC Enrollees Eligible for Transitional Assistance

Single - $12,659 or less

Couple - $16,862 or less

And not receiving coverage for prescriptions through Medicaid, TRICARE, FEHBP, or through your employer

Medicare will pay 90-95% of the cost of your drugs (up to $600 per year) leaving you to pay only 5-10% of the drug. This 5-10% cost will be covered by EPIC leaving you with a significantly lower co-pay than what you currently pay with only EPIC

Annual EPIC fee will be waived

No enrollment fee for the discount cards

The EPIC program will automatically enroll you in the First Health Services Medicare discount drug program endorsed by EPIC in NYS

First Health will automatically send you an EPIC/First Health card to use at the pharmacy for both benefits

You can opt out of the auto enrollment by contacting EPIC directly or even enroll in another discount card, however, your EPIC fee will not be waived

       

EPIC Enrollees Not Eligible for Transitional Assistance

EPIC:

Single - $12,659 - $35,000

Couple - $16,862 - $50,000

 

Savings of 10-25% for prescription drugs could be available to you through a Medicare approved discount drug card

Not eligible for transitional assistance of $600/ per year

You may be asked to pay an enrollment fee of no more than $30

Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) to find out which card will be best for you based on your current prescriptions and your choice of pharmacy

Investigate other drug discount options such as discount cards offered directly from manufacturers, mail order options or internet ordering options

Non EPIC Medicare Beneficiaries

Non-EPIC:

Single - $35,001 or more

Couple - $50,001 or more
