SCHOOL TAX EXTENSION FOR MANY NASSAU COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS
Governor Cuomo has issued Executive Orders setting a December 4th due date for school tax payments that had been due on November 6, due to the after-effects of Super Storm Sandy which ravaged Long Island and the East Coast on October 29th.
Iím pleased the Governor has extended the deadline for school tax payments. It will give residents some extra time to deal with storm recovery and restoration, and allow them to focus their energies on rebuilding their homes and their lives.
The following school districts have opted to allow the extension, and more may be added retroactively: Franklin Square, Garden City, Seaford, Bethpage, Hempstead, Levittown, Island Trees, Westbury, Uniondale, East Meadow, North Bellmore, West Hempstead, Hicksville, Wantagh, Plainview/Old Bethpage, Plainedge, Farmingdale and Massapequa.
Residents of this County were dealt a terrible blow by Sandy. The school tax payment extension will at least give us a bit more time to put our things in order without worrying about having been late with a payment due to the wrath of Mother Nature.
