Hurricane Sandy brought disruptions to our area. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you are affected by the storm. Thanks to all first responders and emergency personnel who have done, and are doing, all they can in this trying time to ensure the safety of Long Islanders.
LIFE THREATENING CONDITIONS:
If you have life-threatening conditions, please call 911.
Report any other power outages to LIPA at 1-800-490-0075. Even though they are likely aware that you are without power, you should still report any outages directly to them.
If you have downed wires that are not visible from the street, please let my office know by email since this may be unknown to LIPA and I will make sure this is reported to them. Please contact my office by E-mail (email@example.com). Please list your NAME, STREET ADDRESS, the nearest cross street, and provide me with your e-mail & a cell phone number. If you have trees or limbs or other debris ON your power lines, but they do not appear to be damaged or down, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
GAS LEAK OR NO GAS SERVICE:
If you smell natural gas, contact National Grid at 1-800-490-0045 (if you simply have no gas service, contact them at 1-800-930-5003).
NATIONAL GRID: http://nationalgridus.com.
I will try to keep you apprised as more information becomes available.
Again, be safe and make sure to check on your neighbors throughout the duration of this event.
