Levittown Students Collect Cell Phones for Soldiers
The Levittown Future Teachers of America Student Club donated boxes of cell phones to Senator Kemp Hannon’s Community Office in Garden City, which is registered as an official drop-off site for Cell Phones for Soldiers. The students made it their mission to collect dozens of cell phones in order to help the troops overseas call home. Cell Phones for Soldiers is a non-profit organization that collects thousands of unwanted cell phones each month and sends them to ReCelluar; ReCelluar then pays Cell Phones for Soldiers so that the non-profit can afford to buy millions of pre-paid calling cards for U.S. troops overseas.
The Future Teachers of America Student Club is open to all students of Levittown’s Salk Middle School, sixth through eighth. The club promotes leadership, responsibility, excellence in academics, as well as aiming to improve the school environment.
