HANNON ANNOUNCES STATE EXTENSION OF TAX DEADLINE
Senator Kemp Hannon is alerting Long Islanders that taxpayers will have until April 18 to file their 2010 personal income tax returns.
Taxpayers are getting three extra days because Emancipation Day, a holiday in Washington, will be observed on Friday, April 15, which is the usual deadline for filing. As a result, the federal tax filing deadline was moved to the next business day, Monday, April 18.
For those taxpayers requesting an extension, they will have until Oct. 17 to file.
