KEMP HANNON NAMED CHAIRMAN OF SENATE HEALTH COMMITTEE
Senator Dean Skelos announced Senator Kemp Hannon (6th SD) as Chairman of the Senate Health Committee, a committee Hannon previously chaired for years.
“There is simply no one in state government that knows more about healthcare than Senator Kemp Hannon,” Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos said. “He has established a tremendous record of leadership on health issues and he understands the challenges we face as we balance the need to ensure that New Yorkers have access to high quality health care, with the need to reform our health care system to reduce costs to taxpayers. He is truly the best man for the job,” Skelos continued.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced Hannon as a key member to his Medicaid Redesign Team as well. The Team, established by an Executive Order announced by Governor Cuomo in his State of the State address, is charged with finding ways to save money within the Medicaid program for the upcoming state budget for the 2011-12 Fiscal Year.
Hannon’s other Senate Committee Assignments include Civil Service and Pensions, Finance, Mental Health and Rules.
