Nassau County Veterans Share Stories Over Pancakes
Veterans from across Nassau County gathered for Senator Kemp Hannon’s Veterans Pancake Breakfast on Saturday at American Legion Post 1082 in honor of the men and women who have selflessly served our great nation.
“I had a great time,” said World War II veteran Tom Geist, 86, of East Meadow. “It’s very important to recognize and appreciate what the veterans have done,” Geist continued. During the breakfast, Geist entertained his fellow veterans by playing Sinatra classics including “New York, New York” and “It Had to be You” on piano.
Members of the Nassau County Boy Scouts helped Senator Hannon serve the veterans a full breakfast as they exchanged war stories with one another, family and friends. “It was an opportunity for me to personally thank our veterans for their bravery and service,” said Senator Hannon. “Their selfless contributions are an enduring testament to the values of liberty, justice and freedom that all Americans hold dear,” Hannon continued.
