Hispanic Counseling Center is Commended for Unique and Vital Services
During the Hispanic Counseling Center’s recent Breakfast and Informational Showcase, Senator Kemp Hannon thanked the important organization for its successful community efforts.
“Hispanic Counseling Center is touching the lives of youth and families across Nassau County,” said Senator Hannon. “Their staff’s mission, selfless work and dedication should be highlighted and commended,” Hannon continued.
Hispanic Counseling Center (HCC) is Long Island’s not-for-profit agency providing comprehensive services for Latino families. The Center is a multi-service agency that provides bilingual treatment and prevention services for chemical dependency, mental illness, and many youth and family programs in a single, one-stop location, serving over 1,200 clients per month.
“Hispanic Counseling Center promotes family and community wellness,” said HCC Executive Director Gladys Serrano. “With a fully bilingual/bicultural staff and a network of interrelated services including licensed behavioral health treatment, HCC supports the recovery of the individual and the family system in a single point of entry,” Serrano continued.
HCC is the only agency in Nassau County licensed by the State of New York to provide these services in an entirely bilingual, bicultural setting--an environment of hope and encouragement for people working toward a constructive, self-sustaining way of life. HCC is more than a treatment center; it is a place where the Latino community and its culture are welcomed, recognized and celebrated.
